Day 62

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. I chose this verse because it was my devotions for this morning, and I am too tired to really look for anything else. I worked until 9:30 last night, and was looking forward to sleeping, but Nora and Adrian had some friends over until after 2am, and since the house is not soundproofed...Then I got up to watch the kids from 7am to 9am, so they could sleep in. I am going to try to have a nap now (I am missing church, but I think I would fall asleep, so after my nap, I will do my own service), then I have to work from 12 to 8:30. I doubt that I will be able to sleep now, because the playroom is right over my bed, and the kids have been running around (and Adrian is watching them now, so they will be silly, as kids are when their fathers are with them). But I need to try, or I will go crazy...

EDIT: Everyone is asking if I am okay, and saying that this is a depressing verse. I did not see it that way, and did not have time this morning to write more. I think that this verse shows His love for us. When we are depressed or sad, or crushed, no one wants to be around us. People tend to stop loving people that are depressed because they are no fun to be around. God does not give up on us. When people are depressed they push others away, and they go, God does not. I hope this makes people realize that I am not sad or depressed, but the opposite.

Day 58

I chose this verse because I was talking with my mom yesterday about fasting and praying to resolve some things in my life. I said that I had talked to everyone but God about it, and within minutes of fasting, praying and reading the bible, I felt peace about decisions I have been worrying about for months. Mom said that I had grown mature. I am not sure that this verse is fully true though (men never put childish things behind them ;) )

I am getting a lot of hours this week. I have the kids normal times (Nora has been home so far, although I think she is out tonight, and she will be Friday.) I will be working Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun at AW. Hopefully that will be my new set schedule. I am dog walking Tuesday and Wednesday for sure, and hopefully Thursday. I took Coco to see Shrek last night, and will be going sometime this week to take two of my friends out for their birthdays.

I chose this verse because many of us are glad when we see our "enemy" brought down a peg or two. Whether it is someone we were jealous of, someone who was mean to us, someone we just never got a long with, we are glad to see them fail. It makes us happy, makes us think, ha, you got what you had coming for doing...to me. What kind of world will it be if that is what we teach our children? I don't like that person, so let's watch and laugh as they fail...is that the word we want?

I chose this one because when I took the kids to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, e en thought it was not the nicest of days, and it was not really tourist season, the place was crowded. God has made so many wonders, and the people are always visiting them to see the majesty.

Day 55

I chose this verse because I recently watched the movie "The young Victoria" and it really sunk in that even though she would be Queen, she had no power. She could not choose where she went, when she went r how she went. She was like a slave until she became a Queen (but even then a slave, but that is for another day."


This has been a good, but tiring week. Nora was out a few of the nights, so I had to put the kids to bed. Then on Friday, it was a fun day at school, so there was only half a day, so I had to have Coco then. Nora and Adrian went downtown for Friday and Saturday (for the night) so I had the kids. I did not sleep much. Then we went to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, then Mcdonalds, then when Nora and Adrian got home at 3:20, I got ready for work, and went to AW for 4-9:30. Today I am going to church (9-10:30) then work (12-8:30) Monday is a holiday which means I will be working a full shift at AW (prob, don't know the schedule yet) Well gotta get dressed and have breakfast.

I do not know about the die part, but I do believe that children need to be spanked sometimes. I have seen many families now that give time outs, no treats...but it is still not as effective as a spanking. If you spank your child (spank, not beat) when it is fit, they will grow up with healthy fear (respect) and will not act out as much. Children were better behaved years ago when spanking was in practice, Children now are spoiled, willful, do not fear punishment, so they do not see anything wrong in acting out.

I chose this verse because many people today do not see children as a blessing. The see them as a money pit, a distraction, something that keeps you from being able to go out and party. When they misbehave a lot of people let them because it is easier than actually discipling them. I think that we need to pay more attention to children, because they are the ones that will be here when we are gone.

I chose this verse because I have been worrying a lot about whether or not I should sell my car. I have enough financially to cover all my payments, and have a little left over, but if I sell my car, I can pay off my other loan in three years (maybe a little longer) instead of fifteen. I can pay off what I owe mom, I can actually save money...I still do not know if I am going to sell it or not. For while I am here in Vancouver I do not need a car, cause I can use my boss's, walk or bike anywhere. It would be great if I could lease it to someone, but it would have to be someone I know. I am going to list it online, and see if I get replies. Then if someone offers me what I need to get, I will sell (I think) if they don't I won't.

Robin Hood

I suggest everyone sees Robin Hood. It was a good movie. Had lots of comedy, action, romance...and Alan Doyle. And the most beautiful horses...I wish I was riding again.

Day 47

I chose this verse because it has been so sunny here this week. I even got sunburnt twice...yes dad, I went out and bought sunscreen, and aloe.

This week has been crazy. I got back from Jasper on Friday, watched the kids for a while on Sat and Sun, then watched them Mon, wed, Thurs, Fri night. I did dog walking on Tues, and Wed, and work at AW, Fri, Sat, Sun. On Thursday, I got a parking ticket for being a day late putting on my new insurance sticker. it was going to be $85, but I argued with them that I have it, I just forgot to put it on, and they lowered it to $45. I think that is all the updates for this week.

I like this verse because it say's that God was pleased with what He made. He liked the land the way He made it. I am thinking now of all the foresting and developing we are doing, and if the world will still be "good" when we are done (if we ever are done). I took Coco to an ecology center, and they have a quiz you can take to see how many earths we would need if everyone's "footprint" was the same. even as earth conscious as I am, we would need 4 planets. i think this is a great quiz, and should be available everywhere cause it will bring into light what we are doing.

I chose this verse because in my new job (DOG WALKING) I am in the woods a lot, where there could be bears, there could be people hiding to ambush, there could be aggressive people who don't like the dogs loose on the trail (has happened to other walkers). There are so many things to fear, but when I walk, I feel no fear, I know that God is with me, keeping me safe.

Day 44

I chose this verse because my devotions last night were about two women, Margaret Wilson, and Margaret MacLachlan, who were killed in 1685 for refusing to bow before anyone other than God, and not giving up their worship. Margaret Wilson was only 18, and as she was left to drown, she read this verse.

Canucks lost, I am now rooting for the Blackhawks

Yesterday was tiring. I walked Coco to school, went to a dance fitness class, hiked in the woods (my job), got home at 2:30, showered, got dressed, and walked to the school for 2:55. I was tired and barely stayed awake for the game. But it was a good tired.

Day 43

I chose this verse because it has been one of my favorites forever, and having recently been to the mountains, it really speaks to me. When we need help, we can turn to the one who made the mountains, which was no small feat.

In another note, are there any Great Big Sea fans out there? Alan Doyle (the lead singer) is gong to be in the new Robin Hood movie, and I believe has done the soundtrack as well.

I chose this verse because if you look around, everyone is searching for the fountain of youth. Everyone is looking for a way to stay young, look young. If we find the fountain of youth, and all stay young, there will be no one to teach us the wisdom that is gained with age. We are all here a certain amount of time only, we should not play with it.

Day 40

I chose this verse because He shows us new mercies every morning. No matter how long or how dark the night is, the sun always comes in the morning. This is what this verse says. It makes me happy to know that I can have a new beginning every morning, no matter what went wrong the day before.

Back on Vancouver. On the way home, on the near side of Merritt (near to Vancouver) there was an accident on the other side of the highway. The car was completely crushed, looked like it when through the junkyard crushing machine. There was a chopper, ambulances, and police cars, but the chopper and ambulance were not moving,so I am pretty sure everyone died.

PS-Canucks lost...I think I am switching my fav team to the Blackhawks

Day 37

I chose this verse because I was a teacher today, the girls I am with do not know what a squirrel sounds like, or about bear safety, or about elk habits, or really anything outdoorsy. The things I have seen and heard are being passed down now, maybe not to my children, but at least to someone.




We think it is a sheep. Not sure though. It was too far away to tell for sure, although it does look like it has a collar (I pointed that out earlier to the girls, but it does not look like a dog.)
I watched a hockey game tonight, and actually liked it. I think I will start watching more (at least till the Stanley cup is done)

The picture with the car going into the water was a dock, and some stupid person drove into it, their front wheels in the water.
The really snowy picture is Lake Louise, and we could not see the lake, for all the snow.
The one that looks like a dead animal, is a dead animal. At Bow falls, I was looking at the falls, and saw that...no one else saw it till I pointed it out.
The one of me in a bathing suit is when we went to the hot springs, I had not brought my bathing suit, and had to rent one of the 1920 ones.
The one of the Sheep was on the road to Lake Minnewanka, and it was really close, so the girls were excited to see some wildlife.
The other ones are from the Cave and Basin (the original hot springs) it was pretty cool, but smelly.

Day 36

I chose this verse because I have always loved horses, and I went riding in Banff this morning. The horse is truly magnificent.

PS-I smell like a horse now, and that makes me happy:)
PPS-The road trip is a week long, one night in Lake Louise, two in Banff, and two or three in Jasper.

On the road

I always seem to be going somewhere. I think I am part gypsy. This weeks trip was just to the rockies. We are currently in Banff, we will be here for two nights, then we are going to Jasper for two or three nights. We spent one night in Lake Louise at my friends place. Now we are Hosteling. There is snow in Lake Louise and Banff, so we might not be doing as many hikes as we planned, but we are going to walk around town, then go to the hot springs. Tomorrow I am going for a horseback ride at 9am, while the girls sleep, then we will do touristy things. Then Wed we are headed for Jasper.

I chose this verse because I was reading a book, and it was all about getting revenge on the people who killed his sister. He went after them and tortured an killed the men responsible. I was wondering what I would do in that situation.

I chose this verse because I was watching a show where people were shunning a leper because the bible says that they are unclean. A lot of people read only the part of the bible they want to, they do not look at all of it. Yes, parts say they are unclean, but other parts say to help them.
