Day 335

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

There is still snow this morning...

Sunday, February 27, 2011

Day 334

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

Sorry everyone that today's blog was late. Got off to a weird start with dog sitting, snow, dogs to walk...

It snowed yesterday and today, there is probably a good foot on the ground, but it is raining now so it will be gone soon.

Day 333

"One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24

Friends are very important in this world. When we find a good one, a true one, we need to hold on to them, and to value them appropriately. We cannot take friends for granted, or they may go away.

Day 332

"Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a ruling rightly given." Proverbs 25:11

I used to have a devotion book called Apples of Gold in Baskets of Silver. I saw this verse and decided to use it.

It is actually getting cold here in North Vancouver. It was -9 at night. Brrr (I think I have acclimated, its very sad)

Day 331

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13

I am sure I have used this verse before but it is special to me, and I really believe it.

Day 330

“Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.” Proverbs 14:22

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Day 329

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18

Monday, February 21, 2011

Day 328

“The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” Romans 13:9-10

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Day 327

"The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel." Proverbs 12:10

I like that the writer lumps these two together. It has been proven that the majority or murderers, rapists and psycho's are cruel to animals first. Imagine that they recognized this years ago.

Saturday, February 19, 2011

Day 326

"This is the day the LORD has made;We will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

How many of us actually rejoice that we are alive? The majority of the time, we simply get up, go to work, get home, go to bed, and do it over and over. We need to be thankful that we are still alive. Thankful that we can see the sun rise and set, thankful we can feel the sun on our faces, thankful we have rain keeping our earth alive, thankful that we have friends and family... We are so rich in so many ways. I think it is time to rejoice in each day.

Off to walk three dogs today, two tomorrow, Costco today, we are getting our new washer today...

Friday, February 18, 2011

Day 325

"For your name’s sake, LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant."Psalms 143:11-12

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Day 324

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. ”No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." Romans 8:35-37

It snowed yesterday. Not a lot, just enough to make the forests pretty (then slushy in the afternoon when the wet snow/rain came)

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Day 323

"The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time." Genesis 6:5

Hmmm, could it be that we are to blame for our own troubles and hardships, by having evil thoughts, and evil hearts?

I saw "The Kings Speech" last night. It was really good. Definitely worth seeing.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Day 322

"And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights." Genesis 7:12

Sometimes I think I know what that must have been like. Yesterday I got so wet, I could squeeze water out of my clothes...

Monday, February 14, 2011

Day 321

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13: 34-35

Happy valentines everyone.

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Day 320

"Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man.” Genesis 4:1

This is what is being left out in today's world. We need to remember to say "with the help of the Lord" we can do nothing on our own.

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Day 319

“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:6-7

Yay our stove is being installed this weekend! Now we might need a new washing machine...its broken again

Friday, February 11, 2011

Day 318

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

More people need to pay attention to these verses, instead of just have them hanging on a calendar in their houses. (especially married couples need to look at this)

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Day 317

"Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife." Proverbs 21:19

I picked this one because it was in my devotions about John Wesley this morning.

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Day 316

"We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.” 2 Thessalonians 1:3

I think we need to start telling other Christians how much we appreciate them, and how glad we are that we have other Christians, other godly people to talk to and confide in, and seek help from.

Tonight I am donating blood, then tomorrow is Bible study, Friday is a young adults and youth group get together, and Saturday I have two dogs to walk...Busy Busy again...

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Day 315

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Mathew 5:43-45

Monday, February 7, 2011

Day 314

“Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 97:10

Sunday, February 6, 2011

Day 313

He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:46-49

I like this verse because I have always felt very strongly towards missionary work, but have never been able to afford to do it (and still cannot) so I support the missionaries as much as I can, and I truly hope others do as well.

Whistler was great yesterday. It was a nice sunny day, not too cold. Anna and Yvi had a blast tubing, and Kristel and I had fun sitting around a fire watching them.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Day 312

“For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.” Psalm 33:4-5

Off to do nothing at Whistler...

Friday, February 4, 2011

Day 311

"He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:1-2

I like this one (almost the same as yesterday's)because I like the thought of having a stronghold, a fortress...

Going up to Whistler tomorrow with the girls. I will be watching Anna and Yvi tube, as I don't have the money to tube, and Kristel hurt her knee, so she will just be watching as well.

Thursday, February 3, 2011

Day 310

“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” Psalm 59:16

God is definitely my fortress. I know I can run to Him when I need help, protection or comfort.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Day 309

“However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him" 1 Corinthians 2:9

I truly believe that God has prepared something for me, and I just need to have the patience to receive it.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Day 308

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." Deuteronomy 6:4-5
