25

So I turned 25 today, and with that came the realization that I am nowhere near where I wanted to be. When I always thought of the future, I thought I would be married (or at least dating), with a solid job (preferably a ranch). Instead I am working 3 jobs to make ends meet, single, and broke (in debt due to college and my car.)

In a way I guess I am content, and even more blessed than others. I have a roof over my head, food to eat and a car to get me places. I am not sure if I am mature enough to be in a relationship (I also see the trouble some relationships have) so I guess I am ok with being single for now. I really only get mopey about my situation when I compare myself with some others my age, those married, on a salary, no debt...

I have been thinking for a while about going back to school, but now I really want to. I am thinking of either vet tech/assistant or youth/social worker. I wonder if I sell a kidney if I will be able to go back then...

I decided to name the rats Echo and Helo.

In Loving Memory


As most of you know, my grandfather went to his forever home last Thursday. The funeral was yesterday (Monday) and it went well, if you can say that of a funeral. There were a lot of stories, memories, jokes... The common ones were his ice cream spoon, werthers candy, and his love of Newfie music.

Amber, mom (Laura), Leanne and Linda and I each had a little speech, and Jenna sang a song. There were a lot of people there, and they all had good memories, showing that he was well loved and lived a good life.

Mom will be doing a bigger blog, but I felt that I had to say something to remember him. I finish this blog with a bible verse that reminds me of him. He always loved wildlife, and I believe that he is not suffering anymore but walking and running.

Misc

Today has been a very productive day. By 10:00 i had already taken the dogs jogging, gotten snow tires (bought and installed) and went to the dollar store for more "Operation Shoebox" stuff. Then I had a nap and when I woke up I went to the barn, had a lesson and then did the pm barn chores.

I am now going to eat dinner (after showering, as my parents are weird and do not like the smell of barn) then I will probably do the cat litter, and head to bed.

I am working as a housekeeper at Blue Mountain (or should I say hill compared to some of the places I have been). I had contacted them before moving back (as a safety net in case nowhere else was hiring). Most of the places I tried were not, but Blue is not a bad place to work so I can last there for a while again. I got home on Thursday October 27, and was offered a job on Friday, but wanted to look into some barns that had called me. I went to one, and they were looking for part time help or working student. So I accepted part time and will be helping her with some young horses as well. I am mostly working in exchange for lessons, but may take half lessons and half pay. Back to Blue... I called Monday and accepted the job, and started Tuesday.

The dogs are glad to have me back. I am living in the basement at my parent's house for the time being (not sure how long this will last as it is insane sometimes. But between the trip here and getting snow tires, I am almost broke.

That's prob it for now as I am eating.

Montana and North Dakota




Not much to say today. Just a lot of driving... We covered 885 kilometers today (which I drove 530 of)We are in Dickinson North Dakota for the night. I would have loved to have pushed another hour to Bismark, but mom was afraid it would get dark before we got there.

The weather has been holding fairly well since we left the wet coast...I mean west coast. There has been a few little showers of rain, but nothing bad. We have seen more deer (dead and alive), 2 buffalo and lots of cows and horses. I still have not seen a real cowboy, but am holding out hope for tomorrow.

We were joking today that I should put myself out as a mail order bride... the add would go like this...

Name: Caitlin
Skills and attributes: Can ride horses, drive tractors, good with children, doesn't mind being isolated, can eat jerky while in the saddle all day, and finally... has good child bearing hips

I wonder if I would get any sane replies?

I love Montana and North Dakota as they remind me of Alberta, with hills, mountains, badlands, hoodos, lakes...

There were a lot of old shacks along the highway (some up a ways, some right near the fence line. They were rather neat and I would have loved to have been able to stop and explore them. A lot of the fences were on hills, and in rocky areas, I am glad that I did not have to put them up...

Day 2 and 3



Friday was a bit of a bomb...the weather was atrocious. It just rained and rained and rained. We went to Lynn Valley Suspension bridge, Edgemont Village and Whitespot. Then we napped.

The George Canyon concert was awesome!!! He is an amazing performer. He and the band all joke with each other and get along great. He has such a loud voice and really puts on a show. The crew was joking around, doing Van Halen so he said that would be as silly as him doing ... then he started singing "Baby Baby, Oh Baby" it was hysterical!!! The opening act was Ryan Laird, and he was really good as well (an Ontario boy) (well not really a boy...2 years older than me) There was a really drunk girl that was sitting behind us and she spilled her beer, kept tripping, made a lot of noise, flashed her undies... oh yeah, she also fell on the lady beside me. Her boyfriend was no better and kept giving her more alcohol!!!! He was very noisy and kept shouting out things. All in all it was a great concert.

We were on the road this morning around 9:30, crossed the border with no problems. We were planning to stop at Ellensburg (about a 5 hour drive) but I wanted to keep pushing. We stopped in Everett for lunch and gas then continued on. We saw "Wild Horse Monument" which is a bunch of wild horse statues on the top of a hill. Mom took over driving then (I drove for about 6 hours) then we stopped in Ritsville about an hour/hour and a half. We went out to "Perkins" for dinner.

When we had stopped at lunch they had pie and I had a chocolate one but really wanted peanut butter pie. Guess what Perkins had? That's right...Peanut Butter Pie!!! So we bought a whole pie (it was cheaper than just 2 pieces) so that's lunch tomorrow :)

We are now going to go to the pool, then crash and hopefully be off between 7-8 am in the morning. (I am trying to go fast so when we get to Montana I can spend a while chasing cowboys ;-) I am hoping to go for a ride somewhere along the way as well.

Mom's Visit



Mom arrived yesterday around 4 pm We went over to the pet store I worked at (after a slight detour downtown cause the streets are silly there...) Then we went to a restaurant called Andrea's. It is really good Italian/Greek, and I always take people there. (If I remember) We split a platter that had a bit of everything (and had it again for dinner tonight) Then they gave us a free loaf of bread which will be lunch/snack for a few days. Then we headed to the hotel and were in bed by 9.

We got up around 6:30 this morning, went for the continental breakfast. Then we headed towards Mt. Seymour, but the cloud was insane and part way up we had to turn around. We then went to Deep Cove. We then went to the Quay (saw some butter tarts...almost got one for Grandpaw but it may not have survived the trip), took the seabus, went to gastown (Roger's chocolates...) Then we came back to the North Shore, drove across to Stanley Park, biked around the seawall, then went to the Aquarium. We then attempted Mt. Seymour, got to the top parking lot, but it was foggy so got a picture in dusk from the second to top parking lot.

Then we went to superstore, got gas, bought some cheese, filled my tire (it was flat) drove back to the hotel, and are now blogging and watching :Big Bang Theory".

Tomorrow we are headed to Midas to check all my tires, then off to Horsehoe Bay, Whytecliff Park, (maybe) Capilano suspension bridge, Lynn Valley suspension Bridge, and the George Canyon concert. Then Saturday am, we head out to Seattle (and hope we have no problems going through, cause if they need to search my car everything will fall out the trunk...

On the road again

Well, some of you may have heard that I am on the move again. I have been thinking of changing my name from Cantering Caitlin to Roving Gypsy Girl. Any thoughts? I am moving out of my house on October 16, and staying at my friend Alysha's house for a few days while I wait for mom to fly out. Then we will be spending a few days touring Vancouver and area, then head out on a road trip. We will be driving most of the way through the states to avoid the mountains and snow (End of October is not the best time to do a road trip through Canada).

I am pretty busy right now, packing, wrapping up work, looking for a new job...I am hoping for someone with horses again, but I may need to take something else.

I am off to walk the dogs, then take him home, then pack...

Concert






I went to the CMT Hitlist Tour concert in Vancouver last night with the girls from work. Dean Brody, Deric Ruttan and Aaron Lines were the three singers. They were awesome!! They did "Jessie's Girl", "Summer of 69" and "Copperhead Road" (The crowd got to pick three songs from another artist for them to sing) They did great for all 3 (especially Copperhead road.)

When the concert was over they came out for a meet and great/to sign autographs. I got Deric Ruttan and Dean Brody's autograph. I got my picture taken with Dean and he was very nice. I tried to meet Aaron as well, but there was a really drunk older lady that would not leave him alone...

I also got to meet up with my friend Amy (from my 1st year in Jasper) that I have not seen in a long time. It was really cool that we were both going to the same concert.

I am going to see George Canyon in October, and hopefully (depends on when I'm moving) Paul Brandt in December.

Kenny Rogers



So it is PNE time in Vancouver, and I managed to talk a friend into going with me Monday night. It had to be Monday as there is a free concert (free with general admission) every night, and Monday was Kenny Rogers.

He was awesome. Not only were his songs sung well, he was very funny. He made jokes, and told stories. He even joke that one day they would wheel him out in a wheelchair and he would roll right off the stage.

He showed a few clips from "The Gambler" as he sang that song. The only bad part was that he cut our a part of "Coward of the County"... But I guess you can't sing about a woman being raped when you are singing at a fair...

There were also horses, ponies, oxen, cows, rabbits and more at the fair. We watched the Superdogs which was great. There was a market, oxygen bar, tribute bands, lots of food. I tried a deep fried mars bar, a deep fried oreo and a deep fried poptart...

A very distinguished lady was on a plane arriving from Switzerland. She found herself seated next to a nice priest whom she asked: "Excuse me Father, could I ask you a favor?" "Of course my child, what can I do for you?" "Here is the problem. I bought myself a new sophisticated hair remover gadget for which I paid an enormous sum of money. I have really gone over the declaration limits and I am worried that they will confiscate it at customs. Do you think you could hide it under your cassock? "Of course I could my child, but you must realize that I cannot lie." "You have such a honest face Father, I am sure they will not ask you any questions. And she gave him the "hair remover"

When the priest presented himself at customs, he was asked "Father do you have anything to declare?" "From the top of my head to my sash I have nothing to declare." Finding this reply strange the officer asked "And from the sash down what do you have?"
The priest replied "I have there a marvelous little instrument designed for use by women, but which has never been used." Breaking into laughter the officer said "Go ahead Father. Next"

A While

My Granny (Audrey) emailed me that I have not blogged in a while, so here I go. I have been fairly busy, working two jobs, pet sitting, and now I have a babysitting gig once a week.

I got bit (stung) three times by wasps last week. I was bush whacking and I think I stepped on or close to a nest. I got stung three times (twice on my hip through my clothes and once on my calf) The one on my calf was very painful, then itchy, but the ones on my hip were not so bad

The weather has finally gotten nice here, it looks like a short summer though... I have started getting a tan, but I don't think it will last long :(

I am going to Playland this Sunday afternoon with the girls so that should be fun.

I got to go see "Cavalia" last night!!! It was amazing. I mentioned it to my boss, who loves Cirque du Soliel stuff, and she asked if I wanted to go with her. I said I wanted to go, but could not afford it...she said I did not ask if you could afford it, I asked if you wanted to go with me. What an amazing boss!!!

I finished work (Korna (the pet supply store)) at 5, then Anna picked me up, we went to the seabus, Anna went to hang with Kristel and Yvi, and I took the Skytrain to Metrotown, then walked to a Sushi restaurant, met Alysha, Jason, Ashley and Cam, had a quick dinner. Then Jason dropped Alysha and I off at Cavalia.

I bought a T-shirt and a magnet and Alysha bought the DVD (she paid for us to do a "Stables Tour" in exchange for me taking one of the dogs she is pet sitting for a night.

The show was amazing, and I would suggest to all (even those who are not "horse people") to see it. The stunts, acrobatics, music, lighting were amazing. The horses were gorgeous. They had Lusitano's Spanish Purebred (Andalusian), Quarter horses, Paint horses, a warmblood, 2 Percherons, two 8 month old mustangs...

The rider's and acrobats were very charismatic and made the show even better. You could tell they loved performing.

It was awesome...the things they did....We were not allowed to take pics during the show, but here is some of the stable tour and my shirt. The pictures are not great, they are on my iphone.

Young Adults Retreat Weekend

I had one of the most amazing weekends this weekend. It was the young adults group retreat weekend. I think there was about twenty of us that were between 19-30ish, then the speaker (Ben) and the two young adult leaders (Ruth and Andrew) and their kids.

We got there between 6-8:30 on Friday, had a quick session on what we wanted God to do in our lives this weekend, had a fifteen minutes of silence, then we were free till the next morning. We stayed up pretty late (between midnight and 2am playing games (and a few did some dancing as they are getting ready for swing dancing competitions)) We played Dutch Blitz, which I became addicted to (it is sooo much fun).

We were up for breakfast at 8:30 on Saturday, had a session on our calling till 12:30. We then had lunch and then free time until dinner (5:30) so we mostly played volleyball or Dutch Blitz. Then we had free time till 7:30, then we had another session on our calling. That went till after 10, and Ben and Andrew prayed for us (individually) After that we played "Freeze" and "Fishbowl" which were really fun and went till after midnight. Then we played Dutch Blitz and some people danced till about 1-2am

We were up for breakfast again at 8:30, then packed up and had a time of worship and testimony and then headed home. I am going out to Red Robin with some of the other young adults in about twenty minutes.

We learned a lot about our calling (how God has a different (usually longer) sense of timing than we do, and we want everything to be clear now, but He will show us in due time) We learned that we are all on a journey, and that we are being trained right now, that everything we do up until our calling is clear is training for our calling. We watched clips from "Zorro" and "The karate Kid" to show how important training is, and that although it may not always seem to make sense while we are training, in the end we will find that we have what we need.

We also learned a lot about learning to recognize the lies in our lives and how to rebuke them, and to not let the devil get a foothold. (How he tells us that we are all alone, no one loves us, we are not pretty, smart, special...)

It was an amazing weekend and I feel lighter and cleaner and I am really glad that I went.

Starting today, our church is doing a 21 day fast. It can be any kind of fast (media, food, chocolate... and does not have to be for the whole 21 days). We are to replace the time that we would usually use to do that activity (eating, watching TV...) to meditate and read the Bible, and to make a space for God. I am giving up Netflix. I don't have a TV, but when I come home from work, I go straight to my computer and watch Netflix( after showering) until bed time. I am going to start coming home and reading the Bible, and writing in a journal the Bible verses that go with the issues I need cleared up. I feel like this weekend really opened up for me to be able to do this, having been away from my computer and with other Christians for the weekend, it really made me ready to study and worship the glory of God.

Anyways it is time for me to head out for dinner now, so thats it for this post.

I think this is a fitting verse for my last day of doing 365 days of Bible verses. I hope that I have made known what He has done with my blog over the past year. Some verses have jumped out at me, spoken to me and I hope to you, while others I had to search for. I hope that by telling of His wonderful acts over the past year that I have touched some hearts, and made a difference. I know that I have learned a lot in the past year, I have found some new verses to give me faith, keep me strong and to get me through each day. I hope I have done the same for some, if not all of you as well. I will still put up the occasional verse, but most likely not one every day. Thank you to those who have faithfully followed this blog every day.

Can you imagine knowing from the moment that you were born that you were to die young? To dies= so that the people who killed you would have eternal life? I don't know if I could do that. I know I could die for my friends and family, but for the people that wanted to kill me?

Day 362

I love the sound that there is someone out there protecting me, someone that is my rock and my refuge. There are not many places in the world to take refuge, so I am glad that God has one for me.

I went snowshoeing yesterday. I don't have any pics on my computer yet, so no pics, but it was a blast. Will (the dog I am watching) was allowed to come, and he had fun playing in the snow, and chasing snowballs.

After church today I am going to learn a new hike with Alysha then take Will home.

Day 360

I just picked a random verse today, but I think this one is fitting. How many of us make our temples (churches, bodies...) a den of robbers? Not even just with buying and selling, but with wanting more?

Day 359

We are all sinners. There is only/has ever only been one who has not sinned. We need Him to cleanse us. He took our place on the cross to bring us salvation, a new life, and eternal life. That does not mean we do not sin, but it means that He covers our sins in heaven.

I took Will (the dog I am looking after at the moment) to the dog beach with Yvi and Lexie (the dog that the family she works for has). They had a lot of fun, and Will was actually tired.

Day 358

I like knowing that we are blessed when we persevere. I know a lot of the times when I am going through trials, I do not feel blessed, but after reading this verse I know that I may not be blessed (riches, friends,boyfriend, cars...) but I will be blessed down the road (eternal happiness, no pain, no suffering, complete love,eternal life...)

I got a weekend job. It is at a pet store that is about five minute drive away from my house. Pretty much my hours will be

Hopefully this extra money will be able to pay off some of my bills, and allow me to buy new clothes (most of my clothes have holes/have been sewn a dozen times :)

I think my finger is getting better. Some of the coloring is going away (although my nail is just starting to turn colors) if I use it, it feels like a mixture of when your finger gets too cold, and when you have pins and needles.

Day 356

How wonderful does that sound? A tree that never dies, that always has fruit...

We had a bit of a change this weekend as Kristel had to go to Oregon with the family she works for, so we did not go snowshoeing. On Friday the girls went downtown for drinks (I stayed behind as I was not feeling well) Then on Saturday we went to Granville Island, and hot tubbed at Yvi's. Then we slept over at Yvi's and had crepes for breakfast. Then we went to Stanley park. Anna and I rented bikes, and Jo and Agathe rented roller skates. (Yvi owns her own roller skates) and we went around the seawall. Then it was back to Yvi's for hot tub and movie... It was a pretty good weekend.

Day 354

This will probably be my most controversial blog. I debated whether or not to even post this verse, but I decided to give it a go. I am not going all "doomsday" or "end of the world" on you, but am curious as to your thoughts.

There have been many more floods, earthquakes, wars, storms, tsunami's.... you name it, there are more in the last decade than ever before. Do you think this is "the beginning of the birth pains" or do you think it is that our media is more powerful than ever before, and we get more news of all these happenings?

In other news-I slammed my finger in my car door yesterday. It is red and purple, but the swelling is going down, and its not as painful anymore. The pic is not that great, but its the only one I have.

I love how He is the "God of Hope" not the god of despair, but the "God of Hope" That gives me hope just reading it. Knowing there is someone out there that powerful that is full of hope, the giver of hope...

Today is our "Girls Weekend" We are going out for St. Patrick's Day (a day late) and then we are crashing at Jo's. On Saturday we are going snowshoeing, then crashing at Yvi's and watching and Australian movie (The Castle or something) then Sunday we are doing Brunch and Granville Island.

I know I have probably used this verse before, and everyone knows it, but it is such a lovely verse I just had to use it. Every time I read it, I am filled with God's love, and just know that he will be taking care of me.

Yesterday was a crazy day. Alysha took Fern (the one with the bladder infection) to the vet, Then I had to pick her up in the afternoon. I was not in the van the Forrester was, so when I was done work, I had to wait about twenty minutes for him, then Alysha asked me to do her a favor, so I had to run and get another dog from his house (then I realized my leash was still in the van that I had gotten Forrester from, had to go back there, then drop the other dog off at his grandparents, then go to the vet, then finally home...

After a day like that, this verse is very calming

I was reading today on "Indulgences" How the church sells people forgiveness of sin, and then I happened to find this verse. The Bible itself says there is one way to be free of sin, and that is not paying the church...

Day 349

For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:5-8

I have never really seen these verses, or if I have I have never read them as I did this morning. I read them as we cannot just have one thing to make us a "good Christian" It is not just one characteristic. If we just believe in God, we are still lost. We need to be able to grow as Christians, and that includes hanging out with other Christians, reading the Bible, going to Christian retreats...

I have the morning off work, so I tried to sleep in (the dog I have at the moment is very whiny and wants constant attention(worse than Shasta...Now I am calling the silly Ontario government to try and figure out what is going on.

Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me." 2 Corinthians 12:6-7

How many of us have suffered from "a thorn of the flesh"? Paul's was so great that he considered it a messenger of Satan, sent to torment. How many of us have been in that boat? Yet he kept his faith, in fact he never actually mentions what his "thorn" is. How many of us have enough faith to hold on when things get bad, and to not boast under our own strength then things are good?

Day 347

I really like this verse, not only because it reminds me of a Steve Bell song, but it reminds me of the joy, and the promise that we have in God. If you look up Joy and Happiness in the dictionary, the definitions are almost the same, even using each other as description. But if you search the Bible, Joy is something that is deep down inside, and even when you are sad, or lonely, you have joy because you have the hope that one day all the tears will be gone, and you will be happy. Joy is something we can have all the time, and happiness is fleeting.

I actually have a day off today, so I slept in till a little after 9 (although I woke up around 7:15, went to the bathroom and then stayed in bed till after 9) Now I am eating poached eggs, and I am going to watch some John Wayne movies.

We went to the Giants vs. Cougars hockey game last might. The Giants lost 8-0 It was pretty impressive. There were several good fights, and we had White Spot burgers!

Day 346

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:9

I find this is something that I struggle with a lot of the time. I try to look at people from God's perspective, but am always falling short. I am trying to think of something good to think about them instead. For example if I think someone is wearing to much makeup, I try to think about their personality...

I am really mad at the Ontario government at the moment. I sent a cheque of several weeks ago (I owed them money cause I moved to BC, but they paid me the Ontario sales tax credit...) I did not receive anything from them for a few weeks (they cashed my cheque) and guess what came in the mail? That's right. More "You owe us" But they keep sending it to my parents in Ontario. Obviously I DO NOT LIVE IN ONTARIO AS THEY ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO PAY MONEY FOR NOT LIVING IN ONTARIO!!!!!!!! They cannot be reached by the phone number they say to reach them on, I sent them a letter with my cheque last time, telling them which address to send to, and still nothing. Can I just say we need a better government?

How many of us have known Christians that rub salvation in others faces? They say "I am going to Heaven and you are not because you are a sinner and are going to Hell?" God does not want us to rub it in non Christians faces, but he does want us to have an answer. He wants us to admit our guilt (we are all guilty, we are all sinners, the only difference is that Jesus is covering our sin for us) We need to be able to answer someone when they ask why we have hope, but our answer should not be proud and boastful, it should be humble, praising the Lord for what He has done.

"You have heard it said "you shall not commit adultery", but I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart" Matthew 5:27-28

As I read this verse, I was thinking of all the movies that we watch in this day and age, and how there is always a "hot woman" who runs around half naked. The general consensus is that it is not harmful to just look at naked women (in magazines, books, movies, porn...) but God says it is. When we look at someone else (male or female) and think about how good looking they are, how nice their legs are, how nice their other assets are... we are cheating on our spouses (or future spouses) by having the thoughts we are only supposed to have for them with someone else. I hope I have explained this well enough, it makes sense in my head.

Day 343

I came upon this verse last night as I was doing my devotions. I have devotion books that I use, one in the morning and the other at night. At church on Sunday the pastor talked about how only 16% of Christians actually read the Bible every day. I took a look at myself, and realized it is very true. I do my devotions (which have a Bible verse) but I don't actually search my Bible every day. I have decided that (starting yesterday) I will start reading the Bible after doing my devotions every night. This was the verse I found after doing my devotions last night, and I fins it very appropriate.

On another note- I have found a downside to touch phones. I called my parents (at 12:30 am their time) last night by accident. I had not realized this, and managed to hang up on them as well...they called back wondering what was going on. Oops-Sorry again...

I have this morning off, don't have to start till 11:30, then I am working by myself, and I have 5 dogs to pick up, walk and drop off. Then we are going to see Rango tonight.

I think we need to pray this every day. It says in Ephesians to put on the armour of God, and I think every morning this verse will help us to be able to put on that armour.

I think we need to praise God more. Too often we just whine all of our problems to Him, but we fail to notice and exalt Him for the things he has done.

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7

I think this is a big problem in this day and age (and in the last century leading up to now) No one "impresses" the commandments to their children anymore. People laugh it off when their children do something bad, or they say they will have time to learn that later. I think we need to be telling our children about the Bible, about the commandments, even just about rules in general, when they are young enough that it will imprint on them.

I am off to the dentist today, then we are having someone over to do facials, then church, Shermann goes home, two dogs to hike with, and cleaning the house tomorrow.

I think a skunk got hit right outside out house. It stinks inside and out...not too much inside, but I could smell it when I woke up. Not a very nice smell to wake up to.

How many of us actually rejoice that we are alive? The majority of the time, we simply get up, go to work, get home, go to bed, and do it over and over. We need to be thankful that we are still alive. Thankful that we can see the sun rise and set, thankful we can feel the sun on our faces, thankful we have rain keeping our earth alive, thankful that we have friends and family... We are so rich in so many ways. I think it is time to rejoice in each day.

I like this verse because I have always felt very strongly towards missionary work, but have never been able to afford to do it (and still cannot) so I support the missionaries as much as I can, and I truly hope others do as well.

Whistler was great yesterday. It was a nice sunny day, not too cold. Anna and Yvi had a blast tubing, and Kristel and I had fun sitting around a fire watching them.

I have always had serving positions, whether as a nanny, cashier, dog walker, stable hand... I have never really aspired to be the highest position in a company, but it is true that without the lowest, there would be nothing done, so maybe the lowest is really the highest...This makes sense to me, but if it does not make sense to you, let me know.

I am off to pick up a dog to pet sit till February 4th, then I am off for a 1-2 hour hike, then clean the house...

Day 301

So Anna has been going to a chiropractor here, and he is a nice guy. You can put down up to five people you think will benefit and if they call within a week of you giving them the business card, you can get a consultation and x-rays for $50 (free x-rays) So I went, and my neck is pretty bad... My mid back is a little bad, and my lower back has a nice curve, but a little too soon. He is going to email me the x-rays, so I will put them up here when I get home from work. He likes to see patients three times a week for the first two months, and then twice a week, then once a week... I am trying to sit properly, stand properly... He has a very reasonable rate, but I have to wait till my paycheck clears to go again... (and get adjusted...) He explains that when your spine degenerates (is injured) its not just the spine, it is the spinal cord, which effects everything, bladder, heart, liver, nerves... so if your spinal cord curves, the nerves pinch, cause problems...

Yay! only 65 days left!

I looked at a few SUV's but the salesman said I should look at a few hatchbacks. My fear was that a hatchback was to small, then you got into station wagons, but he found one that was a good size, and the seats fold in different ways, so it would be good...It is the Honda Fit. The ones they have at the moment are $13,000 (basic) to $21,000 (sport model) I need the one in between (about $15,000-$17,000) The salesman was pretty sure that whatever I had left on my loan would be paid off if I sold my car privately or even traded it in (he was telling me I would get a better deal to sell it privately, but I am worried about fake cheques if I was to do that...) I am not ready to buy anything yet, but now I at least know what I like...

Yay it is the weekend!!! I got home at 1 after babysitting. Woke up at 7, but went back to sleep till 10. Gonna go for a hike and a grocery shop today, maybe go test drive SUV's tomorrow. (I want to trade my car in/ sell my car and buy a new SUV, as I am doing a lot of dogsitting, and there are a lot of dogs that come with cages, food, beds... its hard to fit it all in my car, and it is hard to keep my car clean as the dogs jump in the front seat, they are muddy...it would be nice to section them off in an SUV.) Any one have a good SUV that they think I should get the same one?

This verse always seems to pop up just when I am doing the worst, or close to doing the worst. This month is going to be a little hard on money as the Ontario government says I owe them money, I need a transmission fluid change, my laptop is starting to have more and more problems...

I can take heart in this verse because I know I have been tested before, and I have come out of it all right, so I know I can this time as well.

I for one know that I am a sinner. How many of you will admit that?

Today I get rid of Baruch (the doberman) and I thought I would have a nice break till the next dog on the 29...yesterday, Alysha asked me if I wanted Sekona. So now I have Sekona from today till the 28, then Bailey from the 29-Feb 4...

But at least that will be my next month rent paid...

This verse is good for me today, as I feel like grumbling since I still have not caught up on sleep since my really late night... I woke up, and my first thought was, I don't want to go to work, I want to sleep... (not very good thought...)

Went to the Aquarium yesterday. I now have an annual membership, if anyone wants to go with me, I can get you a %20 discount. Saw Yogi Bear. It was funny in parts, better than I expected it to be, but parts of it were still kind of silly.

Busy Busy Busy again. After Morgan went home, I had all of 2 days with only one dog. Then I got Finn for two days (he was great) now I have Sekona for two nights, then I have just Cooper for a day, then Justin comes the day I get rid of Cooper, then Sunday I get Stella, and have her for either four or eight days (they do not know yet) then I may have Baruch for a week. Then January 29 I get Bailey for a week or so. Today is Yvi's birthday, and Monday (the day Justin goes home) is Kristel's birthday...

People in this day and age seem to be preoccupied with living as long as possible. I think it is not age that matters. I know some 20 year olds that have lived more than some 90 year olds. Even the Bible says we need to number our days...

PS- Never watch BBC's Robin Hood- the ending of season two is very disappointing!

Happy New Year everyone. I was out at Kristel's and we played some games, then we went to Yvi's and watched the Feuerzangenbowle. That is where they have a hot mulled wine, put a sugar cone over the bowl, pour rum on it, and light it on fire. It was pretty cool to watch. The alcohol was so strong I though I was gonna get drunk just from smelling it. We welcomed the new year there, then I came back home, and watched TV till 3 (as I was not really tired) I woke up at 8:30, but went back to sleep till 12.
