Day 93

"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18

I chose this one because it is a perfect example of how people use things that the Bible says, but do not believe in the Bible anymore. The golden rule, pride goes before a fall, the majority of our rules...these are all from the Bible, but the origin is forgotten.

Off to Stanley park again, this time with a six year old.

Day92

"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

I chose this verse because it it perfectly sunny for our trip to Stanley park.

Day 91

2"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light." Matthew 6:22

I chose this verse because I was thinking of all the things that we see and do in out lives. I was thinking of those who look at porn, but then I thought, it is not only porn. There is excessive violence (which I admit I am guilty of watching), seeing something that you can change, but not changing it...

My Granny is visiting from Ontario, so we might go for a short hike today, and tomorrow we are going to visit Stanley park and go on a guided carriage ride.

Day 90

"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Matthew 21:22

I chose this verse because I have recently seen the power of prayer. Julian (the two year old that I watch) was hospitalized yesterday. He had bumped his head, and when he started seizing, they thought that was why. They did a cat scan, and it was clear. They suspected meningitis. At this moment, all I know is that it is viral, and he is doing better now. As soon as I heard that he was being taken, I texted mom and dad to get them praying, and they notified some others in our church (this was when we still thought it was because of the bump) It could have been so much worse, and I believe that everyone praying is why he is still alive. He spent last night in the children's hospital, and may be coming home tonight.

Another example if prayer is my grandfather. He was told he had cancer and was going to have surgery, then he was called and told it may just be blood clots. There were, and still are, many people praying for him.

we sang this song in church this morning, and it was very fitting.

Our God Saves
Paul Baloche

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord we've come

We're gathered together
To lift up Your name
To call on our savior
To fall on Your grace

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord we've come

We're gathered together
To lift up Your name
To call on our savior
To fall on Your grace

Hear the joyful sound of our offering
As your saints bow down, as your people sing
We will rise with You, lifted on Your wings
And the world will see that
Our God saves, our God saves
There is hope in Your name

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord we've come

We're gathered together
To lift up Your name
To call on our savior
To fall on Your grace

Hear the joyful sound of our offering
As your saints bow down, as your people sing
We will rise with You, lifted on Your wings
And the world will see that
Our God saves, our God saves
There is hope in Your name

Mourning turns to songs of praise
Our God saves, our God saves

Hear the joyful sound of our offering
As your saints bow down, as your people sing
We will rise with You, lifted on Your wings
And the world will see that
And the world will see that
Our God saves, our God saves
There is hope in Your name

Mourning turns to songs of praise
Our God saves, our God saves
Our God saves, our God saves
Our God saves, our God saves

Day 89

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might." Ecclesiastes 9:10

I chose this verse because it reminded me of something that Nora said. A while back I was looking for another job, and Nora said they will love you because you are so great, and as soon as you start working for them, then will never want you to leave. This verse says that even if it is not your dream job, do it with all your might. Don't call in sick just for a day off, do't be lazy. These things are noticed. Nora has said on more than one occasion how great I am cause I just do everything fully, Alysha (dog walking) says that I am great at the job, and AW tries to get me to do everything. Other people are noticed for how poorly they do a job, so I think this is a good verse for Christians and non Christians.

On another note that is partly similar, I was looking into getting an iphone, because I am fed up with my phone company, and iphones are on sale right now. I texted Nora and told her that they were on sale, cause she has one, and I was like this is a good price... she replied, go for it, I will pay half. I was like what???? why would you do that?? She replied...Beacause you are great, and you help me so much. Its a treat. So I now have an iphone and love it. If I had been a horrible employee, I would have had to pay full price...

Day 88

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

I chose this verse because if I had followed my own ways, I would not have gone last night. But I went, and the first two hours were kind of awkward, but in the last twenty minutes or so, I got talking with some of the others.

Thursday, June 24, 2010

Day 87

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus." Romans 15:5

I chose this verse because I received a wedding invitation from a friend, and this was the verse on it. Unfortunately because the wedding is in Ont, will not be able to go.

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Day 86

"Jesus wept." John 11:35

I chose this verse because even though it is small, it is very profound. Jesus had just lost His best friend. Even though He had the power to raise him from the dead (and later did), He mourned the loss.

In other news, yesterday I got peed on by a dog, and broke my pinky toe on my left foot. Tomorrow is the BBQ, I am getting nervous.

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Day 85

"But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips." Job 2:10

I chose this verse because a lot of the time, when we go through hard times, we curse God or blame Him. When we go through good things we praise Him. What Job said here is true. We may not understand why we go through these things, but in the end we will be rewarded.

Monday, June 21, 2010

Day 84

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me" 2 Corinthians 12:9

I chose this verse because I have so many weaknesses, and it is about time that I stopped whining about them, and just let God work in me.

This week, I am only working at AW Fri and Sat. I have the kids Mon-Fri as Usual. I will be dog walking, Mon, Tues, Wed and maybe Thurs. Thursday night I will be going to a BBQ and games night for the young adults of the church that I go to. I am really nervous as it is my first time going to the young adults group, and I am so shy to meet new people. But Nora switched her night out so I could go to the young adults group so I have to go...

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Day 83

“Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10

I chose this verse because it was my devotional verse today, and I realized that I am not really still. I am so busy with all my jobs, that my devotions, and going to church have become ritual, not a desire to know God.

Happy Father's day.

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Day 82

"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12

I chose this one just because I like it.

Friday, June 18, 2010

Day 81

"Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,"and "The worker deserves his wages." 1 Timothy 5:18

I was watching Sharpe's Justice, and in it the workers were not being paid, so they were starving, and ended up having meetings about going on strike. This is still happening in many places today. Our society pays entertainers millions of dollars, but those who protect us, and save our lives get nothing. Police officers, nurses, soldiers...why are they paid so little when they protect us, our things, the places we love. Why do we pay so much just to have someone make us laugh. Should it not be the other way around?

Here is a picture of the slug I found mom. It is compared to my foot (a size 11 womens and 9 mens)

Thursday, June 17, 2010

Day 80

"Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap." Ecclesiastes 11:4

I chose this verse because I was thinking of the meteorologists. They never seem to be able to get the weather right. It was supposed to be sunny all week, we have had one and a half sunny days. One day they said there was a forty percent chance of rain, and I looked out the window...it was pouring.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Day 79

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." 1 Corinthians 9:24

I chose this verse because we are all running races towards something. Is that something worthwhile? A better world for children? A bigger house? A forever home?

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Day 78

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die." Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

I guess you can tell why I choose this verse.

RIP Hank and Stubby

Stubby was our oldest horse in Jasper. He would be thirty one this year. I heard from Brad via a facebook post that he had died. I don't know how, or why or when (it might have just been old age)

He also said that Hank the Tank had died. Hank was only eleven this year. He was apparently in the field, was fine in the am, then just dropped dead. I bawled for about an hour. Hank was the sweetest horse. He was one of the biggest ones we had, but so calm. He would lower his head so we could bridle him.

Day 77

"Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy." Psalm 47:1

I chose this verse because Last night Alysha (dog walking) told be that she may only have one walk (Thurs) for me this week (after seven last week...) And I wanted more because I need the money and the exercise. I asked God to just give me one more walk, and this morning when I checked my email, I now have one, maybe two walks on Wed.

This verse was part of the sermon yesterday about praising even through the storm, and last night I was thanking Him for having given me the walks I have had, and just praising Him for what he has done in my life. He is faithful always.

Today I went jogging at 540am, then I am going to get the kids ready, then take Coco to school, then drop Adrian at the seabus (he is going to Banff for a film festival), then I will clean the house, then maybe go for a walk or hike (depending on my energy level and how brave I feel.

Tuesday, Katelin Simerson is coming over to hike with me.

Wed, Thurs Dog walking

Friday, Sat, Sun AW

Sat night watching the kids

Sun Morning Church

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Day 76

"At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail." Job 14:7

I chose this verse because as summer is coming, all the new trees and plants are sprouting.

Today is the end of a long week, and tomorrow the start of another long week. I have to sleep with a mouth guard because of my jaw problems, and mine split in half, so for the past three days I have had headaches caused by my jaw. I am going to by a drugstore brand and try it. I took Coco swimming on Friday, and to see "Marmaduke" on Saturday. Now it is off to church and work.

Saturday, June 12, 2010

Day 75

"The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools." Ecclesiastes 9:17

I have found this to be true. Even when dealing with animals or kids, they listen better to a firm quiet voice, than a yelling screaming, loosing it voice.

Friday, June 11, 2010

Day 74

"On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Mark 2:7

I chose this verse because upon reading it, i thought back to the time when I was in church that the pastor said we will be surprised to see who got into heaven, and who did not. There are those we think are to stained to get in, and those we think are perfect, when in reality it may be the other way.

Thursday, June 10, 2010

Day 73

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7

I picked this verse because I am so shy, I could learn a lot from this verse, and stop being afraid of people for no reason.

Is anyone else going to comment on my hair?

This week I have done two dog walks (hikes)Tues, Wed, and Thurs! It is fun, and good for the wallet. Here are some pics of walks.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Day 72

"Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator." Colossians 3:9-10

I chose this verse because everybody is so obsessed with becoming a new person (although they usually do it through plastic surgery). This is an easier way to do it. Just change your lifestyle. Admit that you don't want to be that person anymore and start making changes.

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Day 71

"This is what the LORD says: "'When people fall down, don't they get up again? When they discover they're on the wrong road, don't they turn back?" Jeremiah 8:5

I chose this verse because I tend to fall a lot, and take the wrong road. But as the verse says, I get up, and I turn around. I went jogging this morning, and now I am going to do two hikes. i just hope I get fast dogs.

Monday, June 7, 2010

Bangs or no bangs?

I am thinking of growing out my bangs. Which looks better, bangs or no bangs?

Day 70

"So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty." Zechariah 4:6

I chose this verse because the church service yesterday was about needing the Spirit to be fully able to do things, and then this morning, it was my devotion.

This week was a little hectic (aren't they all?) Kids, AW, Dog walking, hiking with a friend, then a movie last night. (Saw Killers). It was a pretty good movie, very funny, and Tom Selleck was in it. I have not seen him in anything in a while. This week, I will have the kids, then Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs will be dog walking, Fri, Sat Sun will be AW. That is all the time I have for updates. Gotta go to work.

Sunday, June 6, 2010

Day 69

"He will not let your foot slip- He will who watches over you will not slumber." Psalm 121:3

I chose this verse because I like the idea of someone who watches out for us all the time. Since I am hiking a lot now, and a klutz, not letting my foot slip is lot of help.

Saturday, June 5, 2010

Day 68

"For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalm 100:5

I chose this verse because it gives hope to those who do wrong. He is with us forever.

Friday, June 4, 2010

Day 67

"Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:2-3

I chose this verse because mom and I were talking about Bible verses that had to do with milk, and I could not remember it, but I found it now.

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Day 66

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law" Galatians 5:22-23

I chose this verse because these are the qualities that we all strive to have. Some of them are harder than others to maintain (patience with a 6 year old...)

This week has been busy, AW, dog walking, jogging, dance class, step class, watching the kids...)

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Day 65

"Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat." Habakkuk 1:8

I chose this verse because I am missing horses.

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Day 64

"Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." Luke 12:15

I chose this verse because the world if full of greed. Some people may not even notice that they are greedy. I would not consider myself a greedy person, yet I always seem to want the newer version. A better phone, a better computer, eye surgery, a bigger house...
