"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11
I chose this one because I can see the difference in kids that are disciplined, and those that are not. I can even see the difference in those who are disciplined in different ways. I believe when the behavior/attitude/crime suits it, in spanking, whereas a lot of parents don't today, and the children act out because they do not fear their punishment.

On a lighter note, I am going zip lining tomorrow, will post about it tomorrow night.

Day 123

"The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk." Revelations 9:20

We are studying the book of Revelations in Bible study, and this verse stood out to me. There had been many earthquakes, plagues, diseases, yet the people are still to stubborn to turn to God. It kind of reminded me of Moses, when the Pharaoh did not let the people go, despite all of the plagues, until his son was killed.

Day 122

"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh." Genesis 2:24

I chose this verse because it is sad when you look around today, and see that people who "became one flesh" separate, or stop loving someone. Their was a study done years ago, that the divorce rate was rising (until people stopped getting married) How can you become one flesh, then just go on your way?

PS:I am not saying this to offend anyone who has separated, it is just my opinion

Day 121

"It is good for people to bear the yoke when they are young." Lamentations 3:27

I chose this verse because I can see the truth it in everywhere. If someone lives off of their parents until college, or even later, their work ethic is non existent. They do not know how to provide for themselves.

Pics

Julian is still sick, he threw up last night, I don't think he did this morning, but he was up a lot, so they kept him home...another day's plans ruined. I stayed home with him until 13:45 then Nora came home. I am now at Blenz coffee shop to load the pics, then off to get Coco, and taking her to dinner playdate. The place where we are going for the playdate (where Amanda is the AuPair) just got a dog, so it should be interesting, with Coco's fear of them. It is a hairless american terrier. Feels like a couch, but is kind of cute, and real friendly. These are pics from my Mt. Seymour hike (which is used for many movie shots, including Eclipse) The one with all the trucks is from when they did the movie shoot on my street.

Day 120

"The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools." Ecclesiastes 9:17

I pretty much just opened my Bible this morning, and this is what caught my eye.

I will try to put the pics up today, but no guarantee. I could not do it yesterday as Julian was sick, and I had to stay home with him. He was fine all day, but Nora texted me about ten last night, that he did it again, so I may be home with him again today...

I think my computer is dying for good this time (after having already replaced the hardrive, and the power cord, the screen is going darker, as if I said I wanted it less bright...

Day 119

"Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew 6:27

I chose this verse because a lot of us need to relax more. When we worry, the only thing that it does is stress us out.
I am going to go to the library today and use the wireless internet, so look for pics later.

Day 118

"As in the days, when you came out of Egypt, I will show them my wonders." Micah 7:15

I chose this verse because I love knowing that God can and does do wonders. I see them everyday. They may not be as big and obvious as when He brought the people out of Egypt (turning a river to blood...) but they are still there.

Today I am off, so I am going to church, then hiking with Amanda and Kristel, then Amanda (maybe Kristel) is coming over and we are going to watch the dark knight and when in Rome while Nora and Adrian are out to watch Inception in the theaters.

Yesterday, Amanda, Kristel, Vanessa and I went to Victoria Park to read, and suntan, then went to the quay for the Caribbean festival, and had lunch at East side Mario's. Then I caught the bus back, and went to work.

Day 117

"But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?" Romans 9:20

I chose this verse because of the truth in it. A toaster does not say to its maker, why did you make me? Why did you make me to for this? I want to sail on the ocean, not make bread warm and crispy. It sounds silly when I put it in that perspective, so why do we say the same thing to God?

Friday, July 23, 2010

Day 116

"I called to the Lord who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies." Psalm 18:4

I chose this verse just because I like it.

Here is a funny story. Yesterday Amanda and I went to this restaurant called Andrea's. It is really good, and I have been there a few times. We were told the special was a roast beef sandwich, salad, and fries. We both said that sounded good. He came back a few minutes later to say that they were out, and we would get a free soup because we had to choose again. So we ate our soup, then our main course. Then he brought us free dessert, then he brought us each a loaf of fresh bread. it was really good bread. We left a good tip, and I will definitely keep going there. The service was remarkable, and the food was amazing as always.

Day 115

"Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well" 3 John 2

I chose this verse because it is how they began letters. I chose one before about how they ended letters, and figured that I should do one on how they start letters. They do not start by saying, I am good, I watched this movie, I did this, what did you do. They start by saying, I hope and pray that you are in good health. Maybe we can learn from this?

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Day 114

"At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land." Numbers 13:25

I chose this verse because the number forty is used a lot in the bible. They wandered the desert for forty years, explored for forty days, it rained for forty days and forty nights, Moses was on the mountain for forty days, Jesus was tempted by the devil for forty days, there are more, but it would take too long to type it out.

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Day 113

"And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day." Genesis 1:23

I chose this verse because it is so simple. A lot of people argue about the day being to long, too short, the past the future. The day simply is, and then it isn't.

Monday, July 19, 2010

Day 112

"If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!" Ecclesiastes 4:10

I chose this book because I am reading a book called "No Way Down" and it is about climbing K2, the worlds second highest mountain. In it there are several stories, some sad, some happy. There was one where a man's life was saved because a friend said we make it together or we die together, and there is one where a man continued on, by himself, and one of the others died.

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Day 111

"Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord who had spoken to her. She said you are the God who sees me." Genesis 16:13

i chose this verse because God always sees us. I have been feeling a little odd lately because most of the people I know or have known are married, getting married, finding that special someone, and I am still single. It helps to know that God sees me, and has a plan for me, even when I am sad about some things.

Pics

Pictures of what the trail looked like

Day 110

"In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves." Psalm 127:2

I chose this verse because once again, I am not getting any sleep in the morning. I dont have to work until nine, so I figured I would try to sleep in till eight. Nope, as soon as the kids were up (630ish) it was thump thump thump...blah blah blah...tv tv tv...

Here I go, kids from nine to three, AW from 4-9:30....

Day 109

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

I chose this verse because yesterday I hiked a mountain. Not just any mountain, but Grouse Mountain. It is called the Grouse grind. Here is a comparison the Signal mountain, which is the other mountain I have hiked.

Signal
-10 km
-980 meter elevation gain
-switchbacks on an old fire road
Time it took
-About 6 hour round trip (three and a bit up, a bit of time while up, and then an hour and a bit down)

Grouse
-2.9 km
-853 meters elevation gain
-stairs

Time it took
-A little over two and a half hours

The second one sounds easier right? NO WAY!!!

There are 2,830 stairs on the Grouse Grind. There is no actual hiking trail, it is all a set of stairs. It was hard. I went really fast on the first quarter, and Amanda (who I was with) was thinking that if I kept going at that pace she would not make it. Then I slowed down, and it was Amanda who kept me going.

I was hoping to make it in two hours, and Amanda was hoping within three, so we ended up in between. It was not bad for someone who has a broken toe, asthma, and is not good with stairs (me) and someone from Australia who has never really hiked (not that this was hiking) before. There was a couple that started around the same time as us that finished maybe an hour after us, so we did not feel so pathetic then. (although we were being passed by old people (at least in their 70's) so that made me feel pathetic).

Once we got to the top, there was a mister (which was nice to walk through). You are not allowed to hike down the trail, so we bought a ticket for the "Skyride" which is a tram or gondola. We went to the grizzly habitat, and saw two grizzlies. We saw a wild Bald Eagle, then we saw the bird show, and saw a Harris Hawk, a Red Tail Hawk, a Peregrine Falcon, a barn owl, and a bald eagle.

We went to the gift store, and I got a Grouse Grind mug, and Amanda got a postcard. When we got down at the bottom, we went to the wolf habitat, and saw two wolves. There are three wolves, Alpha, Omega and Beta. Omega and Beta are white and twelve years old. Alpha is black and nine years old.

All in All I am glad I went. After we got down, we went to the therapy pool and hot tub, then out to Nando's for dinner. Then I went to Amanda's and we watched some Lost with Francine (Amanda's boss) and the woman who lives in the apartment in their house. I got to bed a little after midnight, then was up at 6:30. The only part of me that is sore this morning is my left wrist which is kind of odd (I guess I grabbed some rocks to help pull myself up, and since it is my bad wrist...)

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Day 108

"And on the seventeenth day, of the seventh month, the ark came to rest on The mountains of Ararat." Genesis 8:4

I chose this verse because it has mountains in it, and I did not have time to search for other verses with mountains. Today is the day, up ghe mountain!

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Day 107

"Jesus wept" John 11:35

I chose this verse because I wanted a short verse because I had to get up early today.

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Day 106

"Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive." Genesis 6:20

I chose this verse because I was wishing that when the earth flooded, and animals came to Noah to be saved, why did he not kill the pests? Why not kill the pill bugs (of which keep invading my room (found like 7 this morning alone)) or the mosquitoes (which now carry diseases, and are annoying in general) But then again, mosquitoes probably did not need the ark to survive...

Monday, July 12, 2010

Day 105

"One male goat for a sin offering." Numbers 7:34

I chose this verse just at random. I felt like not needing to have a reason for the verse I choose.

Coco starts summer camp this week, so I am free longer hours. On Thursday, Amanda and I are doing the Grouse Grind (hiking up a mountain) then I can brag that I hiked two mountains! Today I am cleaning the house, using the exercise bike, and maybe tanning (if the wind dies down)

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Day 104

"Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat." Colossians 2:16

I chose this one, because working in a fast food industry, I see a variety of how people eat. There was the large man who ate two papa burgers, large fries, onion rings and a apple turnover in one sitting. There are those who request no bacon due to religious reasons, there are those who ask for no salt because of health reasons, and those who are just picky.

Saturday, July 10, 2010

Day 103

"And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone." 1 Thessalonians 5:14

I chose this one for the last section of the verse. Usually my patience is not too bad, but this morning, I was really close to just saying I'm done, packing my bags and leaving. I think is is mostly just because I am hot, and tired, and some things bother me more.

The biggest problem in the house where I live is soundproofing (as in, there is NONE). Today is my only day that I can sleep in (and my last Saturday that I can sleep, in cause next Sat, I get the kids in the morning). I woke up when I heard them getting up with Julian, and it was not too loud, so I managed to stay in bed for a while, but then could not go back to sleep because Julian was stomping around. That is right, stomping, not walking. I finally got up, got dressed, went to get breakfast, and the little things that have bothered me since I got here just really irritated me cause I was already irritated. Both the T.V's where on, but they were not even in the room with one of them, the light on top of the stove was on and there was no one in the kitchen, and it is bright enough outside to not need any lights, ( as in they waste electricity like crazy)On top of all that, the T.V's were not on (never are) at a nice low respectful volume, they were loud enough that I could hear it downstairs.

Normally I can handle one or two of these things, but being tired and having all of these things together....I need to work on my Patience. I asked Nora about a week ago about getting a strip to go on the bottom of my door(there is a two inch gap, which does not help keep the noise down)she said they would look into it, but no success yet. Maybe I need to go to a motel on my day off to actually get sleep.

On a lighter note, I yesterday, went to the waterpark, the beach, and to see "The A Team" It was awesome! Extremely funny, but with lots of action.

Now I am going to try and calm down...

Friday, July 9, 2010

Day 102

"How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your world." Psalm 119:9

I chose this verse because looking around me, in the city especially, I can see how so many young people have lost everything. They have no respect for others, no respect for their elders, they swear in front of children, they push in front of the handicapped...

Last night I went to the young adults bible study. It was fun. We chatted for almost two hours, then did about 45 mins of bible study, then played "Grave robbers from outer space" It was a hilarious game, making fun of "B" rated movies (the cheesy horror movies) Today went to the waterpark, then Ambleside beach (went swimming in the ocean) now off to a movie with Amanda.

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Day 101

"After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japeth." Genesis 5:33

Can you imagine living to be that old???? I would be bored to tears. I think just a hundred years is a long time.

Here are pics of granny's visit so you can stop bothering me mom.

Things I have learned

A few things I have learned from being a nanny...
1) never let a six year old pick what she wants to eat
2) never let a six year old know there is cookie dough in the fridge
3) never let a six year old think her brother is a puppy
4) most importantly, never let a six year old put sunscreen on your back

Day 100

"I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and all the earth.". Genesis 9:13

I chose this verse because I am almost a third if the way through this (my how time flies). I thought that deserved a rainbow verse because rainbows are so pretty and happy.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

Day 99

"The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame." Genesis 2:25

I chose this verse because I was wondering how it would feel to have no shame.

Today, we are off to visit Nora at work, while Coco is there, I shall meet Katelin for lunch. After I get Coco back, we are going to Metrotown.

Monday, July 5, 2010

Day 98

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you." Philemon1:25

I chose this verse because it is actually used a lot in the new testement as a way to end letters. Can you imagine if we ended our letters that way?

Sunday, July 4, 2010

Day 97

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever." Psalm 107:7

I chose this verse because it is one of my favorite verses that are turned into song.

This week was kind of crazy, with the hospital, the airport, granny visiting, having Coco cause there is no school, working at AW...I was soo tired. I think I managed to catch up on my sleep with a two hour nap yesterday. This week should be a little calmer, although I do have Coco, and need to come up with things to do with her.

Saturday, July 3, 2010

Day 96

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." Psalm 139:13

I chose this verse because I read a story about a girl that was born with a hole in her heart. For her entire life, she had surgery after surgery, and nearly died several times. She always felt that she was different and less valuable due to scarring. When she read this verse she realized that because of what she had been through, she had a better testimony. And the scar on her chest was in the shape of a cross.

Friday, July 2, 2010

Day 95

"Always be full of joy for the Lord. I say it again- rejoice." Philippians 4:4

I chose this verse because there are not enough people that are full of joy. And I am tired, so it is nice and short...

Thursday, July 1, 2010

Day 94

"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!" Revelation 3:15

I chose this verse because it is the same with water. Lukewarm water tastes gross, but cold or hot can be nice.

Yesterday, I woke up at five, showered, got dressed, was out the door at five fifteen. Drove to the airport, dropped off Granny, drove home (got a little lost, took the wrong exit from the airport, went back to the airport, got on right ramp.) Made Julian's lunch, got him ready for school, put a movie on for Coco (watched half an hour), then got ready to go to Stanley Park. Meet Amanda, went to bus stop, got on bus (there were two adults, three kids), got off bus, walked to the park, had a picnic lunch, went to the aquarium, saw a dolphin show, saw the 4D show (there were adults screaming in fear more than the 5, 6, and 7 year olds we had). Got ice cream, watched a clown, got balloon animals, got on bus, got off bus, got on seabus, got off seabus, got on bus, arrived home. Ran in, put in contacts, ran out. Picked up Amanda, parked at the Quay. Caught the Seabus, got on the Canada Line, got off the Canada Line, went to the theatre, Watched Eclipse (the new Twilight movie)(was the best so far, but not as good as the books), got on Canada line, Got on Seabus, got to car, dropped off Amanda, got home, went to bed.

Today I have the kids 9-3, then 5:30 till whenever Nora and Adrian get home.
