Suite

I was pretty sure of this last night, but did not want to blog until all the paperwork was done. Anna and I now have a place to move into December 16!! It is a two bedroom 1400 square feet suite. It has a huge entry/kitchen/living area. The rooms are monster sizes! It is in our budget, and it is still in the North Shore...close to our gym, close to Anna's job, close to our friends... They will allow pets as long as they are quiet. It is close to all my potential jobs (have a new potential, a vet clinic on Lonsdale is hiring, so I applied and I am kind of hoping to get this one, not the dog grooming, but whichever offers...)
Now we need to get furniture...beds, dressers, couches, table...

Who will be the first to comment?

Day 246

"He also said, “Bring me the shawl you are wearing and hold it out.” When she did so, he poured into it six measures of barley and placed the bundle on her. Then he[a] went back to town." Ruth 3:15

Will have another post today...stay tuned!

Day 245

"So she lay at his feet until morning, but got up before anyone could be recognized; and he said, “No one must know that a woman came to the threshing floor.” Ruth 3:14

None of the apartments yesterday were really good. May be looking at one today...

Day 244 and Aaron Pritchett

"Stay here for the night, and in the morning if he wants to do his duty as your guardian-redeemer, good; let him redeem you. But if he is not willing, as surely as the LORD lives I will do it. Lie here until morning.” Ruth 3:13

I got to meet Aaron Prtichett!!He was so nice. I got a picture and an autograph. He asked me if I was from North Vancouver, where I was originally from, and what brought me out here. Surprisingly there was no line up to see him. I thought it would have been lined up out the door. He is playing at the Roxy tonight, but I think that is sold out.

Day 243

"And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character. Although it is true that I am a guardian-redeemer of our family, there is another who is more closely related than I." Ruth 3:11-12

Dog grooming trial today!! Praying it goes well. Nora found another Au-Pair that can start Dec 19, so heres praying we find an apartment for the 15.
Took Coco to see "Tangled" last night. It was good. I think I might have to buy it when it comes out.

Aaron Pritchett is in North Vancouver today to do a book signing. I may have to stop by and see if I can get a book and pic with him... might be a long lineup though...

Day 242

“Who are you?” he asked. “I am your servant Ruth,” she said. “Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a guardian-redeemer[a] of our family.” “The LORD bless you, my daughter,” he replied. “This kindness is greater than that which you showed earlier: You have not run after the younger men, whether rich or poor." Ruth 3:9-10

Day 241

"When Boaz had finished eating and drinking and was in good spirits, he went over to lie down at the far end of the grain pile. Ruth approached quietly, uncovered his feet and lay down. In the middle of the night something startled the man; he turned—and there was a woman lying at his feet!" Ruth 3:7-8

Can't really say much here, as mom kind of did it in her comment a few days ago. More snow here. How weird for Vancouver. Its supposed to rain soon though, I heard. (and warm up) after 14 months of living in a warmer climate -9 is cold. ( I still don't like weather over 20/25 (too hot) but now my cold tolerance seems to be depleting)

Day 240

“I will do whatever you say,” Ruth answered. 6 So she went down to the threshing floor and did everything her mother-in-law told her to do." Ruth 3:5-6

We found the perfect place on Sunday! We absolutely loved it. The only thing is he wanted someone in Dec 15 at the latest, so we had to talk about seeing if we could afford to move in that early. We call him back to say yes, and by then someone else had napped it. The house is a duplex though, he has two on the top that are ready now, and two on the bottom that will be ready by January. We may go look at the the bottom suites, but they wont be as perfect as the top was... The top is ours if for any reason the top ones fall through for the people renting them...Pray that we would get the right place...

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Day 239

"Wash, put on perfume, and get dressed in your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor, but don’t let him know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking. When he lies down, note the place where he is lying. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down. He will tell you what to do.” Ruth 3:3-4

I understand all of this verse except the uncover his feet part. Why would you do that to anyone who is sleeping?

Monday, November 22, 2010

Day 238

"One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home for you, where you will be well provided for. Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor." Ruth 3:1-2

Aww isn't that nice? The mother in law wants to make sure her daughter in law is provided for.

The house we looked at yesterday was a dump. We are looking at another suite tonight, and have two or three we are maybe interested in.

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Day 237

"So Ruth stayed close to the women of Boaz to glean until the barley and wheat harvests were finished. And she lived with her mother-in-law." Ruth 2:23

Doesn't this make you feel happy. God was taking care of her, and introducing her to her future. Sometimes we make big leaps, not sure if we will be caught, but God will always catch us.

Anna and I are looking at a 3 bedroom house in east van/burnaby. Please pray that it is the right one for us, and that we can get it.

Day 236 SNOW!!!

"Then Ruth the Moabite said, “He even said to me, ‘Stay with my workers until they finish harvesting all my grain. Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It will be good for you, my daughter, to go with the women who work for him, because in someone else’s field you might be harmed.” Ruth 2:21-22

There is snow..in Vancouver...
Crazy weekend again
Sat-9-pick up Bailey
10-1 kids
1:30-hike
4-consultation at the gym
6-? kids

Sun-9-walk/hike with Bailey
11-1 church
4-? apartment searching

Friday, November 19, 2010

Day 235

“The LORD bless him!” Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. “He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead.” She added, “That man is our close relative; he is one of our guardian-redeemers." Ruth 2:20

Anyone have an opinion on this verse?

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Day 234

"Her mother-in-law asked her, “Where did you glean today? Where did you work? Blessed be the man who took notice of you!” Then Ruth told her mother-in-law about the one at whose place she had been working. “The name of the man I worked with today is Boaz,” she said." Ruth 2:19

No explanation for this verse, it is pretty straight forward.

In other news, I have unofficially given my notice as an au-pair. We are both on the lookout now for other things (Nora is looking for another au-pair and I am looking for a full time job that will either take me part time now, and full time later, or that will wait for me... Jan would be best for both of us of, but if I get an opportunity too good to pass up I don't want to loose it, and will give two weeks notice... If you guys could pray that I get the right job/apartment that would be great.

Day 233

"so Ruth gleaned in the field until evening. Then she threshed the barley she had gathered, and it amounted to about an ephah. She carried it back to town, and her mother-in-law saw how much she had gathered. Ruth also brought out and gave her what she had left over after she had eaten enough." Ruth 2:17-18

What? Ruth ate first? Without giving it to Naomi? I never noticed that before...I guess it is good to read a line at a time sometimes.

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Day 232

"As she got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his men, “Let her gather among the sheaves and don’t reprimand her. Even pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up, and don’t rebuke her.” Ruth 2:16-16

I don't know about you, but Boaz is the kind of guy I would marry...kind, leaves extra food for the needy...
Joined Steve Nash fitness world with Anna yesterday (we have a groupon for a month)the gym is huge! We got lost... Really nice facility, hoping a month of great exercise will be good...

Monday, November 15, 2010

Day 231

"At mealtime Boaz said to her, “Come over here. Have some bread and dip it in the wine vinegar.”

When she sat down with the harvesters, he offered her some roasted grain. She ate all she wanted and had some left over." Ruth 2:14

This verse reminded me of when I worked at BellBrae animal hospital, how we would get Pizza for lunch on Saturday's. How many employers give free food?

Busy weekend is over, now to clean my room, the house and my car...

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Day 230

“May I continue to find favor in your eyes, my lord,” she said. “You have put me at ease by speaking kindly to your servant—though I do not have the standing of one of your servants.” Ruth 2:13

Isn't that nice? She was put at ease by a nice guy...maybe we can all learn to be a little nicer...

Was out babysitting until 2am, got to bed at 2:30, got up at 6:30 to walk the dogs before church... I will be glad when this weekend is over.

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Day 229

"May the LORD repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.” Ruth 2:12

Wow, this verse has so many great points that it would take to long to point them out. Repay? rewarded? I like the part about taking refuge under God's wings. It is a great place to rest and be restored. This is going to be a crazy weekend for me...

Friday, November 12, 2010

Day 228

"Boaz replied, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before." Ruth 2:11

I think this verse is pretty much self explanatory...

Day 227 and Remembrance Day

"At this, she bowed down with her face to the ground. She asked him, “Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you notice me—a foreigner?” Ruth 2:10

I think a lot of us would ask this question, but I also think that in today's day and age we would have just accepted his gift with a mumbled thanks, for fear that if we said anything, he would change his mind.

As today is November 11, I hope that all of you are wearing poppies, and that all of you will take a moment of silence at 11:00. Please remember the soldiers that have already lost their lives, and pray for the ones who are fighting now. You may not support the wars, but please support the men and women that are risking their lives.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Day 226

"Watch the field where the men are harvesting, and follow along after the women. I have told the men not to lay a hand on you. And whenever you are thirsty, go and get a drink from the water jars the men have filled.” Ruth 2:9

I am pretty certain that giving this much protection to a woman he did not know would have raised a few eyebrows. Can you imagine if a farmer (think of the biggest farm you can) in today's time said to someone that was coming onto their land and gathering the crops that were missed, said this? It would not happen. In today's time Ruth would have been arrested for trespassing and stealing.... maybe we can all lean a little from this story. There have been many studies done on Esther, Job, Revelations...maybe its time to study Ruth.

Here are some pics (we did a pic swap last night

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Day 225

"So Boaz said to Ruth, “My daughter, listen to me. Don’t go and glean in another field and don’t go away from here. Stay here with the women who work for me." Ruth 2:8

I think someone had a crush starting... Isn't this an interesting story?

Day 224 and The States

"The overseer replied, “She is the Moabite who came back from Moab with Naomi. She said, ‘Please let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the harvesters.’ She came into the field and has remained here from morning till now, except for a short rest in the shelter.” Ruth 2:6-7

I like this because it does not just say who she is, but why she is there. A lot of times in this day and age, we have to ask multiple questions to get the answer we are really looking for.

Our trip to the States was awesome! We are planning a trip back there, mainly to Seattle. We did a Duck tour, which as I said before was part on land and part in the water... the guide was really funny. He had a different hat for each phase of the tour, told jokes, had us wave our hands in the air, scream, sing... we saw the floating house from "sleepless in Seattle" saw a lot of house boats and a business that was actually a boat. We went shopping (i bought the least with only boots, a mug and a true love waits ring) We went out for dinner, saw the market, I saw a huge Anatolian shepherd. The first night at the cabin, we did a face mask and watched "Apocalypse Now" it was more boring than I remembered. The second day, we actually drove to Seattle, toured, shopped, drove back and went to bed. Then on Sunday we went to the Seattle Outlet mall in Everett, then drove home. On the way to the States, the border crossing was really funny cause we had an Australian, a German, a New Zealander and a Canadian. We had to get out an go in to the building so they could get ESTA's. Coming back was easy.

Thats about all I can think of, any questions? More pics will be on facebook later.

Day 223

“Boaz asked the overseer of his harvesters, “Who does that young woman belong to?” Ruth 2:5

A lot of you may be thinking “belong” we don't belong to anyone. I guess it is a primitive way of thinking but I know I belong to God, and would love to belong in a way to man/family. That probably does not make sense but it does to me...

Having a ton of fun in the States. Will write more when I am back in Canada, this computer is really slow... Went to Seattle yesterday, wished we had another day there to do the Sci Fi museum...Anna and I will be coming back at a later time for that. Did a Duck tour (part on land, part on water...)

Saturday, November 6, 2010

Day 222

“Just then Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters, “The LORD be with you!” “The LORD bless you!” they answered.” Ruth 2:4

I believe I have said this before, but wouldn't it be great for everyone to greet each other with that? Wouldn't it be great to have a boss that says The Lord Bless you when he comes into work instead of...clean that spot...why aren't you clocked in...why did you leave early...why were you late...why is it raining...

Friday, November 5, 2010

Day 221

“So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek.” Ruth 2:3

Can you imagine while you are out searching for food for your elderly mother in law, running into a man that just happens to be related to your mother in law? That is not coincidence.

Gone to Seattle for the weekend. :)

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Day 220

"And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.” Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” Ruth 2:2

Can you imagine being so poor that for food you have to trail along behind someone in a field and grab what falls?

I have a job interview at a pet store today! Please pray that it goes well, and that I find out the outcome before I go to the states. Thanks so much.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Day 219

"So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning." Ruth 1:22

Can you imagine going to a town just as the harvest was beginning? It would have been a crazy town, and Ruth should have been overwhelmed, Was she? Find out tomorrow...

I am applying for a part time position at COBS bread. Please pray that I get it...

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Day 218

"I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.” Ruth 1:21

Sometimes we may feel like this, we feel like we were full, and God drained us. But as in this story, there was a greater purpose to why Naomi's family died, and why they had to return to that land, and we need to trust that God has a better plan in store for us than what we could plan for ourselves.

Monday, November 1, 2010

Day 217

“Don’t call me Naomi,” she told them. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter." Ruth 1:20

I find it very interesting that her name, Naomi, means Pleasure. And that she wanted to be called the exact opposite. (Mara means bitter).

Had a busy weekend, the Roxy, hiking both days, church, went trick or treating with the kids Kristel watches (i just walked, Anna and Kristel went to a few doors cause it is their first Halloween and they were very excited, and loved dressing up\seeing costumes\getting candy...
Baden will be going home around 1 this aft, so then I will clean my room and my car.
Then on Friday we are going to the states..
