Day 365

"Give praise to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing of Him, sing His praises; tell of all His wonderful acts." Psalm 105:1-3

I think this is a fitting verse for my last day of doing 365 days of Bible verses. I hope that I have made known what He has done with my blog over the past year. Some verses have jumped out at me, spoken to me and I hope to you, while others I had to search for. I hope that by telling of His wonderful acts over the past year that I have touched some hearts, and made a difference. I know that I have learned a lot in the past year, I have found some new verses to give me faith, keep me strong and to get me through each day. I hope I have done the same for some, if not all of you as well. I will still put up the occasional verse, but most likely not one every day. Thank you to those who have faithfully followed this blog every day.
God Bless, Caitlin

Day 364

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

You hear that? God knew we were sinners, and He loved us enough to find a way to make us righteous again! How amazing is that?

Day 363

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.” Timothy 2:5-6

Can you imagine knowing from the moment that you were born that you were to die young? To dies= so that the people who killed you would have eternal life? I don't know if I could do that. I know I could die for my friends and family, but for the people that wanted to kill me?

Day 362

“My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.” Psalm 62:7

I love the sound that there is someone out there protecting me, someone that is my rock and my refuge. There are not many places in the world to take refuge, so I am glad that God has one for me.

I went snowshoeing yesterday. I don't have any pics on my computer yet, so no pics, but it was a blast. Will (the dog I am watching) was allowed to come, and he had fun playing in the snow, and chasing snowballs.

After church today I am going to learn a new hike with Alysha then take Will home.

Saturday, March 26, 2011

Day 361

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Isn't it amazing that we have someone that has overcome the world? How many of us can overcome the world?

Off to do snowshoeing finally...

Day 360

"Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.t is written,” he said to them, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers." Matthew 21:12-13

I just picked a random verse today, but I think this one is fitting. How many of us make our temples (churches, bodies...) a den of robbers? Not even just with buying and selling, but with wanting more?

Let me know if this makes sense to you. It makes sense in my head, but I am not sure if it does on here.

Thursday, March 24, 2011

Day 359

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 6:23

We are all sinners. There is only/has ever only been one who has not sinned. We need Him to cleanse us. He took our place on the cross to bring us salvation, a new life, and eternal life. That does not mean we do not sin, but it means that He covers our sins in heaven.

I took Will (the dog I am looking after at the moment) to the dog beach with Yvi and Lexie (the dog that the family she works for has). They had a lot of fun, and Will was actually tired.

Day 358

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12

I like knowing that we are blessed when we persevere. I know a lot of the times when I am going through trials, I do not feel blessed, but after reading this verse I know that I may not be blessed (riches, friends, boyfriend, cars...) but I will be blessed down the road (eternal happiness, no pain, no suffering, complete love, eternal life...)

I got a weekend job. It is at a pet store that is about five minute drive away from my house. Pretty much my hours will be
Friday 4:30-9
Saturday 10-6
Sunday 11:30-5

Hopefully this extra money will be able to pay off some of my bills, and allow me to buy new clothes (most of my clothes have holes/have been sewn a dozen times :)

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Day 357

"Then thundered the horses’ hooves—galloping, galloping go his mighty steeds." Judges 5:22

I chose this passage because I love the sound of horses galloping.

I think my finger is getting better. Some of the coloring is going away (although my nail is just starting to turn colors) if I use it, it feels like a mixture of when your finger gets too cold, and when you have pins and needles.

Monday, March 21, 2011

Day 356

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

How wonderful does that sound? A tree that never dies, that always has fruit...

We had a bit of a change this weekend as Kristel had to go to Oregon with the family she works for, so we did not go snowshoeing. On Friday the girls went downtown for drinks (I stayed behind as I was not feeling well) Then on Saturday we went to Granville Island, and hot tubbed at Yvi's. Then we slept over at Yvi's and had crepes for breakfast. Then we went to Stanley park. Anna and I rented bikes, and Jo and Agathe rented roller skates. (Yvi owns her own roller skates) and we went around the seawall. Then it was back to Yvi's for hot tub and movie... It was a pretty good weekend.

Sunday, March 20, 2011

Day 355

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a Holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness and into His wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:9

I like this verse because it calls us special and chosen. Does it not make you happy to know that you are special and chosen no matter how people in this world view you?

Saturday, March 19, 2011

Day 354

"Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains." Mark 13:8

This will probably be my most controversial blog. I debated whether or not to even post this verse, but I decided to give it a go. I am not going all "doomsday" or "end of the world" on you, but am curious as to your thoughts.

There have been many more floods, earthquakes, wars, storms, tsunami's.... you name it, there are more in the last decade than ever before. Do you think this is "the beginning of the birth pains" or do you think it is that our media is more powerful than ever before, and we get more news of all these happenings?

In other news-I slammed my finger in my car door yesterday. It is red and purple, but the swelling is going down, and its not as painful anymore. The pic is not that great, but its the only one I have.

Friday, March 18, 2011

Day 353

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

I love how He is the "God of Hope" not the god of despair, but the "God of Hope" That gives me hope just reading it. Knowing there is someone out there that powerful that is full of hope, the giver of hope...

Today is our "Girls Weekend" We are going out for St. Patrick's Day (a day late) and then we are crashing at Jo's. On Saturday we are going snowshoeing, then crashing at Yvi's and watching and Australian movie (The Castle or something) then Sunday we are doing Brunch and Granville Island.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Day 352

“A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:1-3

I know I have probably used this verse before, and everyone knows it, but it is such a lovely verse I just had to use it. Every time I read it, I am filled with God's love, and just know that he will be taking care of me.

Yesterday was a crazy day. Alysha took Fern (the one with the bladder infection) to the vet, Then I had to pick her up in the afternoon. I was not in the van the Forrester was, so when I was done work, I had to wait about twenty minutes for him, then Alysha asked me to do her a favor, so I had to run and get another dog from his house (then I realized my leash was still in the van that I had gotten Forrester from, had to go back there, then drop the other dog off at his grandparents, then go to the vet, then finally home...

After a day like that, this verse is very calming

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Day 351

"Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:31-32

How many of us have our hearts burning for the Lord?

In other news..
Saw Beastly last nigh, not the best remake of Beauty and the Beast out there
We are pet sitting the beagles, and one of them apparently has a bladder infection (she is going to the vet this morning to see...
I have recently been watching "Dollhouse" a TV show about brainwashing

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Day 350

“then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:10,12

I was reading today on "Indulgences" How the church sells people forgiveness of sin, and then I happened to find this verse. The Bible itself says there is one way to be free of sin, and that is not paying the church...

Monday, March 14, 2011

Day 349

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:5-8

I have never really seen these verses, or if I have I have never read them as I did this morning. I read them as we cannot just have one thing to make us a "good Christian" It is not just one characteristic. If we just believe in God, we are still lost. We need to be able to grow as Christians, and that includes hanging out with other Christians, reading the Bible, going to Christian retreats...

I have the morning off work, so I tried to sleep in (the dog I have at the moment is very whiny and wants constant attention(worse than Shasta...Now I am calling the silly Ontario government to try and figure out what is going on.

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Day 348

"Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me." 2 Corinthians 12:6-7

How many of us have suffered from "a thorn of the flesh"? Paul's was so great that he considered it a messenger of Satan, sent to torment. How many of us have been in that boat? Yet he kept his faith, in fact he never actually mentions what his "thorn" is. How many of us have enough faith to hold on when things get bad, and to not boast under our own strength then things are good?

Saturday, March 12, 2011

Day 347

"Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him." Psalm 126:5-6

I really like this verse, not only because it reminds me of a Steve Bell song, but it reminds me of the joy, and the promise that we have in God. If you look up Joy and Happiness in the dictionary, the definitions are almost the same, even using each other as description. But if you search the Bible, Joy is something that is deep down inside, and even when you are sad, or lonely, you have joy because you have the hope that one day all the tears will be gone, and you will be happy. Joy is something we can have all the time, and happiness is fleeting.

I actually have a day off today, so I slept in till a little after 9 (although I woke up around 7:15, went to the bathroom and then stayed in bed till after 9) Now I am eating poached eggs, and I am going to watch some John Wayne movies.

We went to the Giants vs. Cougars hockey game last might. The Giants lost 8-0 It was pretty impressive. There were several good fights, and we had White Spot burgers!

Day 346

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:9

I find this is something that I struggle with a lot of the time. I try to look at people from God's perspective, but am always falling short. I am trying to think of something good to think about them instead. For example if I think someone is wearing to much makeup, I try to think about their personality...

I am really mad at the Ontario government at the moment. I sent a cheque of several weeks ago (I owed them money cause I moved to BC, but they paid me the Ontario sales tax credit...) I did not receive anything from them for a few weeks (they cashed my cheque) and guess what came in the mail? That's right. More "You owe us" But they keep sending it to my parents in Ontario. Obviously I DO NOT LIVE IN ONTARIO AS THEY ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO PAY MONEY FOR NOT LIVING IN ONTARIO!!!!!!!! They cannot be reached by the phone number they say to reach them on, I sent them a letter with my cheque last time, telling them which address to send to, and still nothing. Can I just say we need a better government?

Day 345

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15

How many of us have known Christians that rub salvation in others faces? They say "I am going to Heaven and you are not because you are a sinner and are going to Hell?" God does not want us to rub it in non Christians faces, but he does want us to have an answer. He wants us to admit our guilt (we are all guilty, we are all sinners, the only difference is that Jesus is covering our sin for us) We need to be able to answer someone when they ask why we have hope, but our answer should not be proud and boastful, it should be humble, praising the Lord for what He has done.

Day 344

"You have heard it said "you shall not commit adultery", but I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart" Matthew 5:27-28

As I read this verse, I was thinking of all the movies that we watch in this day and age, and how there is always a "hot woman" who runs around half naked. The general consensus is that it is not harmful to just look at naked women (in magazines, books, movies, porn...) but God says it is. When we look at someone else (male or female) and think about how good looking they are, how nice their legs are, how nice their other assets are... we are cheating on our spouses (or future spouses) by having the thoughts we are only supposed to have for them with someone else. I hope I have explained this well enough, it makes sense in my head.

Anna, Carissa and I went to see "Rango" last night. It was pretty funny.

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Day 343

"Then you will call and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help and He will say, here am I" Isaiah 58:9

I came upon this verse last night as I was doing my devotions. I have devotion books that I use, one in the morning and the other at night. At church on Sunday the pastor talked about how only 16% of Christians actually read the Bible every day. I took a look at myself, and realized it is very true. I do my devotions (which have a Bible verse) but I don't actually search my Bible every day. I have decided that (starting yesterday) I will start reading the Bible after doing my devotions every night. This was the verse I found after doing my devotions last night, and I fins it very appropriate.

On another note- I have found a downside to touch phones. I called my parents (at 12:30 am their time) last night by accident. I had not realized this, and managed to hang up on them as well...they called back wondering what was going on. Oops-Sorry again...

I have this morning off, don't have to start till 11:30, then I am working by myself, and I have 5 dogs to pick up, walk and drop off. Then we are going to see Rango tonight.

Monday, March 7, 2011

Day 342

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24

I think we need to pray this every day. It says in Ephesians to put on the armour of God, and I think every morning this verse will help us to be able to put on that armour.

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Day 341

“[Praise to the LORD] LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.” Isaiah 25:1

I think we need to praise God more. Too often we just whine all of our problems to Him, but we fail to notice and exalt Him for the things he has done.

Off for a hike, then to church, then to take Shermann home, then to clean the house...

Saturday, March 5, 2011

Day 340

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7

I think this is a big problem in this day and age (and in the last century leading up to now) No one "impresses" the commandments to their children anymore. People laugh it off when their children do something bad, or they say they will have time to learn that later. I think we need to be telling our children about the Bible, about the commandments, even just about rules in general, when they are young enough that it will imprint on them.

I am off to the dentist today, then we are having someone over to do facials, then church, Shermann goes home, two dogs to hike with, and cleaning the house tomorrow.

Friday, March 4, 2011

Day 339

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Thursday, March 3, 2011

Day 338

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

I think a skunk got hit right outside out house. It stinks inside and out...not too much inside, but I could smell it when I woke up. Not a very nice smell to wake up to.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Day 337

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside.” Job 23:10-11

I watched "The Eagle" yesterday. It was pretty good, but at the end it was very bromance. Most of the snow has melted, it is raining again.

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Day 336

“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:25-26
